Amor Real / Pat's Place - Back to School

The Amor Real team is proud to announce that Jessica has graduated the Pat’s Place program. Jessica has grown tremendously over the past 4 years. I remember the day she came to Pat’s Place broken, full of shame and doubt. Over the past 4 years, her life has been transformed from a broken woman who could barely make it through an entire day without breaking down into tears because of her past. Jessica has blossomed into an amazing mother who loves to spend time with her children and has been completely healed of her past. Jessica now has a new place to live and a job, and she is doing very well for herself. We will miss her and the kids at the house. However, we will be able to see them from time to time.

For the first time in 2 years, our kids are back in public school. There were mixed emotions as the first day of school rolled around. Some were excited to get back out there and spend time in class with their friends, while others were missing rolling out of bed and attending school online. Below are some pictures of our kids sporting their new uniforms. A big thank you goes out to The Prayer Room Church who provided the funds for this year’s uniforms.

Over the past year, we have spent extra time counseling and healing with the mothers. We are planning a trip in October where we will be taking the Youth on a 4-day retreat. We are looking to have Pastor Keith Torbert and Pastors Robert and Jennifer Walker be part of this trip to help guide our Youth. Lastly, we are looking for sponsors for this trip, as it is not part of our yearly budget. The 4-day trip cost for our kids is estimated at $4,000. Please note that the team going on the trip is paying their own way, and the money listed above is to cover the cost of food, lodging, and travel for the Youth. If you are able to contribute, please click the Donate Button below.

If you would like to be involved in what we are doing, we would love your support. Below are ways that you can support Amor Real and Pat’s Place. Whether it is a one-time gift or monthly support, we would be so appreciative for your partnership. Please click on the link below to Give to Pat’s Place.

Amor Real Feb 2022 Trip Report

Thank you everyone for your support as we headed to Peru at the beginning of the month. We were joined by Pastor Robert and Jennifer Walker, Keith and Monica Barnett of The Prayer Room Church and Tim Koenning of the Amor Real Board for the week. This was an amazing trip where the primary focus was Pat’s Place. The team brought with them general vitamins, soaps, shampoos, tooth brushes, tooth paste, and medicine to provide support for the house. We spent many of days with the kids at the pool, the park, dinners, etc. Pastor Jen took each teenage daughter and mother and spent time with them individually. Pastor Jen has a huge heart for our families and has been able to connect with them just like Holly has been able to when she is able to be in Peru. Keith and Monica lead us in an entire night of worship with our very own Tim Koenning joining them by playing the electric guitar. As part of our service, we provided the opportunity for them to be baptized which was an incredible site to see.

Please take time to watch the 3 minute video of our time in Peru. I want you to notice the smiles on their faces. For those of you that have been on these trips or have seen videos and pictures in the past, nothing compares to the smiles of our time with them last week.

If you would like to be involved in what we are doing, we would love your support. Below are ways that you can support Amor Real and Pat’s Place. Whether it is a one time gift or monthly support, we would love for you to be involved. Please click on the link below to Give to Pat’s Place.

Amor Real / Pat's Place - Thank You for 2021

Christmas at Pat’s Place

Please take a few minutes to read this amazing letter from Laura (Director of Pat’s Place).

In this second year of the pandemic that we have lived through was very difficult due to the uncertainties that always exist in my country and throughout the world, but what is never lost is the Hope in the ways of God that has always shown in the lives of the families of Casa Pat, because they found a Home truly a Home made up of love, peace, protection, mercy and knowing that they will not be alone in the midst of their own difficulties.

Many arrangements were achieved in 2021 for Pat’s Place so that families could be more comfortable. Normally, challenges for many people would be impossible, but for God never. How we got the money in less than 3 weeks to buy a brand new 2020 Van is totally amazing. In our minds, raising $38,000 dollars in 3 weeks seems impossible, but once again God answered our prayers.

God continues to show his infinite love towards his people. Many times the situations that the families of the Pat house can go through are difficult as fears of life, but they know that being held by the hand of Jesus Christ they will see that there is always hope in their lives. While being a multi-family house, we are an amazing home, but with a single feeling that without Jesus Christ in our lives we can achieve nothing. It is that faith that we instill in children that they will never be alone that you can always have in their lives that unconditional love that only comes from our Heavenly Father.

We close one more year in our lives knowing that God is generous with us even more with my own life by knowing what God looks for in his children, a true love, he shows me his infinite love, his strength, his shoulder to rest and rest. And that is why

We thank all the people with kind hearts who have been able to help unconditionally in 2021, we are infinitely blessed for all the help they give us, for being part of their family.

Thank you my dear friends.

Laura Ali

Director, Pat’s Place (Case Pat)

We cannot thank you all enough for your love and support. The silent ways you make life possible is called love. I call this Love Without Borders. Whether you have given money, time, clothes, vitamins, medicine, or the many other things that we have been able to share with our Pat’s Place Families, you are Love Without Borders. Below is one great example of that love. In 2020, Arab and Nasha had no future. No father figure, no schooling, barely write his own name. At the end of 2021, he is graduating from Primary School. We (Amor Real Board) cannot thank you all enough for your support.

Amor Real / Pat's Place 2021 Accomplishments & Updates

We have some exciting news to share from the wonderful world of Peru. Thanks to our friends, families, and donors for all of your support; it has been an amazing year. Below is a list of amazing accomplishments that you helped provide. Holly and I want to take this time to thank you for everything you have done for Pat’s Place and Amor Real.

As we wind down 2021 and get ready to sprint into 2022, our families are finishing their last few days of school. While another great year has passed at home, our families have been able to celebrate being vaccinated and attending more events outside of the home. After almost two years of being at home with little time outside of the house (other than the vacation we took them on in October), they are all eager to get out into public more often. This is also great news for 2022 as the country returns to some normalcy, and the kids even have the chance to go back to in-person school. Below are some pictures of the kids studying and some of the older ones in line for their second shot. Keep reading below for more great news.

We want to take this time to celebrate Arab as he graduates from Primary School. Some of the schools gave the option for a small public graduation which he and his sister attended. Pictured below are Arab & Nasha along with Arab’s teacher. He is very excited to move into the next Secondary School.

Pat's Place Vacation

I would like to give a big shout out to our amazing friends and donors that sponsored this event. We were also blessed to have Pastor Robert and Jennifer Walker for taking part in this event. They were invaluable to this trip. It has been almost 2 years since we have been able to take our families on an outing. We were able to take them out on dune buggies, sand boarding, boats, swimming, nightly walks on the beach, group therapy sessions, and an amazing discussion by Pastor Jennifer Walker on Hope. Please see the video below for a recap on this amazing trip.

Here are the latest photos of our families in front of the mural on the 2nd floor. Everyone is growing up very fast.

Once we were back home, Pastor Jen took all of the ladies out to the spa for a Mani / Pedi day. It is the little things sometimes that make the biggest impact.

I always make Pancakes for the families when I am in Peru. Pastor Jennifer decided that she wanted to make them an amazing lunch, so she made them Beef Enchiladas and Mexican rice. It was a fishes and loaves moment as well because we were sure that we did not have enough food once we laid the food out. However, not only did they all eat multiple servings, we still had some left overs.

Ready for Vacation

As we come down to our last couple months of 2021, our families are ready for a vacation. Most of our families have been in the house for almost 2 years at this point. While they have been out of the house in the past month to play, joy rides in the van, dinners with me, they have pretty much been in the house the entire time. However, I am very excited to announce that I will be leaving on Friday for Peru to take all of our families on an all expense 3 day vacation. Laura and I have booked them in a nice hotel with a pool where they will be able to go swimming anytime of the day. We are taking them on a couple of excursions so that they can go 4 wheeling through the national reserve, sand boarding in the dessert, and even do some boating. We will be joined by Pastor Robert and Jennifer Walker from Houston Texas. They will be blessing the families during their trip by providing ministry times for our lovely families.

Amor Real / Pat's Place Van Is Here

Joe Warren and I just spent the last 4 days in Peru with our Director Laura finalizing all of the paper work on the Pat’s Place Van. This was a very exciting trip for everyone. We started Monday with a trip to the dealer to finish the paperwork, and then a nice little drive back to the house. Laura and I were a little nervous as the van is taller and longer than you would think when driving it. After 2 days, we put together a little presentation for the families of Pat’s Place, and took them out to dinner to celebrate. Below is a short video of this exciting trip. We want to say thank you to all of our donors for making this dream a reality.

Thank You

Amor Real \ Pat's Place Update

This summer Amor Real took our first mission trip to Peru in over a year. We teamed up with the Blackston family and headed down to Pat’s Place for ten days. While there, Holly, Eden, Lily, and Courtney painted an amazing mural on the second floor of Pat’s Place. While the artists were at work, Jeremy, Alex, Eli, and Elianna went out into the community of Paradise to build three houses. Holly and Courtney also took time to meet and pray with each woman of Pat’s Place and encourage them in their struggles.

Meet Carmen.

Carmen came to Pat’s Place in March of 2017, escaping abuse by family members, because of which she lost most of her eyesight and had her daughter Melanie, who is now eight years old. She is very grateful for finding Pat’s Place after trying to live on her own for two years prior without support for her child. Now she has had treatment for her eyes but still can only see shapes. She has a smile on her face that was never there before and hope for her future. She would like to learn Braille and study massage therapy, but in the meantime she is attempting to clean houses with the continued support of Pat’s Place.

Pat's Place Update - You Did it!!!

The Lord has answered our prayers! Thanks to our amazing donors who have help raise $38,000 dollars. We have been blessed with more than enough money to purchase Pat's Place very first 18-passenger van! Not only did YOU help provide for the purchase, but also for all the Peruvian-required fees and a special driving course required for Pat's Place Director, Laura Ali. Everything has been completely covered!

We have truly been humbled and overwhelmed by the friends and family who have donated so generously to make this dream come true. God is so faithful to provide for our every need in His perfect time! We are so excited to share that the purchase will be finalized during our upcoming family mission trip July 12-22 in just two short weeks. We will share pictures, video and a Live Facebook event to show you what YOU have helped make possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Upgrade Time - This has been an amazing year already. Besides the amazing news above about our very first van, we are also in the middle of upgrading the living space for our families. The house is 16 years old at this point and it is time to replace a few things. I am proud to say that it is Christmas in July. We have purchased a new Industrial Fridge for our Kitchen on the 3rd floor, 6 brand new toilets for the house which means that we have now replaced every toilet in the entire house in 15 months. We are doing everything we can to make sure our families are taken care.

Double Your Dough Update

The past 3 weeks have been amazing. We definitely have some amazing supporters. I want to thank you all for your love and support of Pat’s Place. We are just 10 days away for closing out our double your dough for the Pat’s Place Van. It is not to late to double your donation. We only need $6,290.00 to reach our goal. Laura’s birthday is in 3 days. Can you help us reach our goal and give Laura a nice gift for her birthday. I know she is excited to see a dream of more than 10 years come to pass.

Pat's Place - Where Families Matter

Hello Everyone, before we jump into the general updates and pictures we all love to see, I wanted to let you know that we are looking for your help. Pat’s Place is entering its 15th year of service. Over the Past 5 years, we have been able to make some amazing and very needed updates to the house. We want to make 2021 a year to remember by finishing off the rest of the house by updating last remaining items. Below is the list of items we are looking to replace or add to the house. Please note that the Van is on the list because it is something that we are in need of. We currently do not have any private transportation for our families. While it is not the most important, if there is anyone out there that is willing to help us get a 18 passenger van, we will not turn it down.

Pats Place List.jpg

The past couple of months have been very busy at Pat’s Place. While Peru is not on a major lock down anymore, we are keeping the outings from the house to a minimum right now to keep our families safe. The computer lab we installed in December is in full use all day long. Between the kids that have classes in the morning and then the kids that have classes in the afternoon, lab is in full use all the time.

Slide1.JPG

We had Laura come to the United States in April to have a little break after a year of not being able to Leave Peru, and being on the job 24x7 for a year. During the Month of April we were able to spend time in Georgia, Texas, and Alabama. We did a lot of driving on this trip, and we all had a lot of fun. This was Laura’s first 3000 Kilometer (round Trip) drive to Texas. While in Texas, my family and Laura spoke at The Prayer Room Church, road horses, the ladies had a little spa time, and spent a lot of time relaxing for 6 days. After that, we had an amazing dinner with our Briarwood Church family in Birmingham, Alabama. Although it was a quick couple hours, it was great catching up with everyone in Alabama.

Here is an updated picture of our families. We want to say thank you to all of our sponsors, families, missionaries, and everyone that helps Pat’s Place run every single day. Without you, this home would not be possible, and these families would have no place to go. Thank You from all of us at Amor Real for helping us have a place Where Families Matter.

It has been a great week at Pat’s Place. Spending time with our families is always the highlight of the trip. During this trip I was able to fix a few things around the house as well as spend some quality time with my kiddos. We had a couple issues with the computers, Wi-Fi, printers, doors, windows, and a couple minor things in some of the rooms. While Laura and Pamela are here running the house, I was able to be the handy man which is very needed. It is a full time job for sure as something would happen each day. Sometimes before I would leave a room, Pamela would say, Alexcito, can you fix this or that. I want to say thank you to all our Sponsors for making everything we do here possible.

Slide2.JPG

Here is a great picture of our kids in the Computer Lab that we installed in December. This lab has been such a blessing to them as they have been able to do all of their school work in here. Pamela is doing a wonderful job with teaching them, and helping them through out the day. This is a full time job, and she works 10 hours a day here at the house. We are blessed to have her as their teacher. Not only is she helping them with their school work, but she also helps them with their spiritual and mental health. Having Pamela focus on the kids, allows Laura the time to run the house, take care of the women’s needs and their mental health without having to worry about the kids.

20210326 - PatsPlaceNewsLetter.jpg

For my last night here, We had dinner brought in from a local restaurant near the house. Everyone had a great time, and they all cleared their plates. The kids can really eat. We think that our kids in America are hungry, these kids act like this is their last meal and tomorrow is not coming. They are truly taking the scripture that says we are not promised tomorrow to heart (James 4:13-15).

Pat's Place - Back to School

Slide1.JPG

Spring in the United States is a time of new beginnings, while it’s fall in Peru, and the children are starting their new 2021 school year. On their first day, they parade into school holding their heads high, excited for all the new things they’re going to learn…but this year, just like the last, they paraded in a circle because they will be learning virtually from home once again thanks to covid.

Slide2.JPG

God is in the business of transformation at Casa Pat, so the children begin each morning with a time of worship, prayer and encouragement in the Word of God. This provides a firm foundation of the renewal of their minds; where there was once darkness, pain and torment, there is light, comfort and hope. Casa Pat’s director, Laura, and her daughter/assistant, Pamela, share from their own changed hearts to speak life and Truth into theirs.

Pat's Place - Where Families Matter

Hello Everyone,

God is so faithful! During such a troublesome time around the globe, He continues to provide every resource that Amor Real Ministries needs to keep Pat's Place fully open and functioning at capacity! We are excited to announce that an anonymous donor has offered up to a $2000 match to support Pat's Place, as well as build a home in the community! Will you join us in reaching our fundraising goal of $2000? Click below today to donate!

We have had a great couple of months at Pat’s Place. While the world moves on, we have been making the best of our surroundings. As most of you know, this is vacation time in Peru. That means the children are out of school: each day filled with family time and games, every night is movie night. Laura and Pamela are taking great care of our families. In the picture above we have actually had four new people join us at the house. A set of twins (Luz Marina, Luz Maria) that are 16 years old (one of which has an eight-month-old baby named Alondra). We also have their sister, Flor Celeste, who is 11 years old staying with us. Normally, we are not able to take women without their mothers, especially those under the age of 18. However, this was an emergency situation with which the government approached us. I am honored and proud to say that we have been able to accommodate them and bring this family into our mix.

Laura has been very diligent during this time, teaching the families about what it means to love, to be loved, and how to love your children even when they came from such an abusive relationship. We tend to forget that almost all of the kids came from an abusive situation, and the mothers (very often) come in with a heart of stone toward their children because of this. So Laura spends every day teaching, guiding, and training them on how to approach life and how to love now with the love of Christ. This is a long process, but we have seen the changes first-hand in the mothers' and children's lives.

Pat's Place Christmas 2020

We had a great time celebrating Christmas with the families of Pat’s Place. The team started off the day wrapping gifts for everyone, then went on to baking brownies. Later in the afternoon the children surprised us with a mini concert. After the concert was over, Joe Warren, Keith Torbert, and Alex Compton played Santa Clause to everyone by handing out gifts. To finish off the night, we had a tremendous dinner of rotisserie chicken, french fries, chaufa (chicken fried rice), salad, and brownies for dessert. The kids were stuffed at the end of the night and ready for bed. Thank you to everyone that helped make this day such a great success. We have had a great week, and this is definitely one of the highlights of the year for Amor Real and our beloved Pat’s Place. We will be sending out a follow up email next week that will have a full recap of our entire trip.

Amor Real - November 2020 Home Building

We had a family loose everything to a fire early in November. Our great friends at Make A Miracle let us know about it, and we jumped into action. We have been blessed by a great sponsor who had already sent in money for us to build a few houses.

Pat's Place - Giving Tuesday is Here!

Slide2 (1).JPG

Dear Friends,

Alex is leaving THIS Friday for a long-awaited visit to Pat's Place, our home for abused women and children in Lima, Peru! We have not been able to visit since January because of Covid-19, which has had a monumental impact on our residents and is sure to have lasting effects.

On this #GivingTuesday, we are raising money to replace the $30,000 we lost in 2020 due to Covid-19 in order to supply our 2021 budget. We are trusting God to provide for this ministry and the healing transformation that takes place within those walls. Would you consider being the hands and feet of Jesus by giving to Pat’s Place to help us recover this deficit?

Pat's Place - Giving Tuesday

Slide1.JPG

Your world turned upside down this year, didn’t it? The interesting thing about 2020 is that our individual “worlds” are unrecognizable, but the world also as a whole has forever changed, even if we haven’t yet seen it from our quarantine bubbles.

While all this upheaval unfolded in the United States, we waited with bated breath for daily news from Pat’s Place, our home for abused women and children in Lima, Peru. Because they are in opposite seasons south of the equator, the 20 children living there spent an entire school year homeschooling, unable to leave unless for medical care. Pat’s Place Director, Laura Ali, and her daughter Pamela took exceptional care of our 30 residents, without any physical help or presence that usually comes from missions teams and other American visitors because the borders have been closed for so long.

On this #GivingTuesday, we have a sincerely desperate plea for our friends and donors, many of whom had canceled their 2020 trips, which would have supplied $30,000 towards our 2021 budget. We are trusting God to provide for this ministry and the healing transformation that takes place within those walls. Would you consider being the hands and feet of Jesus by giving to Pat’s Place to help us recover this deficit?

We are forever grateful for those that have already given this year, even during the difficult times our own economy has faced. And we are thankful for You and your partnership in the work of the gospel. May you feel the presence of God in your circumstances, giving you strength and provision for the work He’s given you to do as well.

With sincere appreciation, affection and hope,

Alex and Holly Compton
